About Let’s Eat Grandma

Let’s Eat Grandma (LEG) are Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth – two amazing, creative women who share a twin-like friendship (and appearance). They were just 17 years-old when they released their critically-acclaimed debut album, I Gemini, which landed them sold-out shows worldwide.

Two years on and Let’s Eat Grandma are touring their second album, I’m All Ears, which features production by David Wrench (The XX, Frank Ocean, Caribou), SOPHIE (Charli XCX, Madonna) and Faris Badwan (HMLTD, The Horrors). Now thanks to Bershka On Stage, music fans have the chance to catch them play live at Bershka’s Oxford Street store in London before they boss Europe’s festival scene this Summer.

Interview

Why Let’s Eat Grandma?

It’s a punctuation joke about the comma… so you can have ‘Let’s Eat Grandma’, as in ‘come on Grandma let’s go and have dinner’, or you can remove the comma for a more morbid meaning…

Who are Rosa and Jenny?

Fill us in on your fave food, movies, hobbies – whatever makes you tick.

Jenny – Katsu curry, old PS2 games and “Us”.

Rosa – Peanut butter, Jungle book and skateboarding

How, when and where did LEG get started?

We’ve been friends since we were 4, and have always done creative stuff together as we were growing up. When we were 13 we started writing music in my (Rosa’s) attic on old yamaha keyboards and playing loads of gigs in small venues around Norwich where we’re from.

What’s the inspiration behind the pieces in your Bershka collab?

Often fans at our shows will say that one of their favourite lyrics of ours is “we got this” from our track Falling Into Me, it also works pretty well as a mantra so we wanted to incorporate that into our merch collab. We’re both also really into tie-dye, and with festival season approaching it made sense to design something with that as well.

Tell us three weird things about you – from pre-show rituals to what you pack on tour.

Rosa: I always bring my Hanjie puzzle book with me on tour.

Jenny: We always run out of clean socks on tour so we do routine washes in the hotel sink with the little complimentary shampoo bottles.

Rosa: We also often try to sing Bohemian rhapsody in a 3 part harmony with our drummer Fay

What’s the latest music you can’t live without – and the festivals you can’t wait for?

Jenny – I’m really into with Kim Petras at the moment, been listening to the new American Football record as well and “Reading Writing and Arithmetic” by the Sundays. Really looking forward to playing Latitude again this year and also going to Poland for the first time to play Soundrive festival.

Rosa – I can’t stop listening to the the Gil-Scott Heron Jamie xx album at the moment, also the new Japanese House album and the Vengaboys. Pretty damn excited for Coachella!!
